The Managed Learning System sets the standards for technology in education. Developed by JES & Co., an educator based non-profit organization, the Managed Learning System (MLS) is an open-system, standards-based research and development environment that provides the framework so that all elements of an educational IT system can communicate and interoperate. A VISION-ary Experiment
The growth in K-12 distance learning has also caught the interest of many companies specializing in technology solutions for both education and business.
A collaborative effort launched earlier this year in Oklahoma will serve as a model of education and business working together to improve learning. Called the VISION project (Virtual Internet School in Oklahoma Network), it will initially offer online curriculum including algebra and other math courses, for students in the fourth and seventh grades at nine pilot school districts, including two of the state's most populous districts. On July 11th the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, authorized the Superintendent to accept a donation of 30 computers, Microsoft software, and courseware and program materials for A+ certification through the Dell Academy program, from Dell Computer Corporation and Microsoft, for Booker T. Baldwin Park Projects
Baldwin Park USD requested a bond issuance of $24,000,000 to rehabilitate 2 High Schools and 4 Middle Schools in need of modernization and technology upgrades. QZAB bonds funded Technology upgrades, Professional Development and a Modernization of Campus Program which included seismic and structural improvements, installation of HVAC, ADA access modifications, electrical upgrades, new water, sewer and gas infrastructure, new roofing and upgraded alarm, security and safety systems.
