The GLRC is a JES & Co. program built on the Achievement Standards Network (ASN), The Gateway to 21st Century Skills (the Gateway), and the Open Metadata Registry(OMR). What's New?

The IMS Global Learning Consortium is a very important worldwide learning resource standards consortium that hosts several working group meetings a year. The next is scheduled for February 14-16 in Utrecht, Netherlands. The public is usually invited to attend the Summit portion. Joining the IMS Global Learning Consortium will give you a chance to be on top of interoperability education standards both nationally and internationally.

The European Schoolnet is hosting a seminar in Brussels, Belgium on February 17-18, 2011. The seminar is called Educational Publishing Futures - A Strategic Seminar. This seminar will provide a platform where Ministries of Education, publishers and ICT vendors can discuss the future of educational publishing and digital content for schools. The European Schoolnet is a unique network of 31 Ministries of Education (MOE) that is at the forefront of global initiatives related to the exchange and interoperability of digital learning resources for schools. With support from its Ministries and the European Commission, European Schoolnet has developed the Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) service for schools and continues to work with both Ministries and commercial educational educational publishers in major content related projects.

Where can you get educational resources mapped to your state standards?

In the last GLRC newsletter we talked about the importance of being able to discover quality education resources correlated to your state's standards. The Gateway is the oldest and largest digital library for teachers and is sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA) as a benefit to it's 3.2 million members. Achievement Standards Network (ASN)

The Achievement Standards Network (ASN) goes global.

Countries from around the world are starting to adopt linked data principals when it comes to their educational standards.

Australian's national curriculum was recently published in ASN RDF/XML format. Link Affiliates was tasked with reviewing the value of using the ASN framework for publishing the new Australian Curriculum. The report can be found at: http://bit.ly/fDZgRI

WGNH's Teachers Domain has correlated their English Language Arts and Mathematics resources to the Common Core Standards, which are now in the ASN.
