Welcome to JES & Co.

The Global Learning Resource Connection – IMS Global Learning Consortium Together Conduct Full Day Workshops

JES and Co.’s Global Learning Resource Connection tools enable IMS member solutions to seamlessly relate learning resources to learning objectives.

The IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS) dedicated an entire day to the Global Learning Resource Connection (GLRC) during the recent quarterly international workshops on Wednesday, November 16, 2010. The attendees represented countries from around the world including the U.S. Department of Education, Australia, the Netherlands, Korea, Germany, UK, and more. European Schoolnet was in attendance representing 27 countries and demonstrated the IMS/GLRC integration. The IMS international workshops were held at Lone Star College in The Woodlands, Texas.

National Education Association (NEA) is the Premier Sponsor of the Gateway to 21st Century Skills

JES & Co. a world leader in research, development, and deployment of education programs based on open standards, announced today that the National Education Association (NEA) has renewed their support of the Gateway to 21st Century Skills (the Gateway). The Gateway is a key GLRC solution, resulting in teachers and learners being able to seamlessly navigate related learning resources across state and national boundaries thus enriching the curricula in each while simultaneously providing the means for relating learning outcomes to educational resources such as student ePortfolios, professional development resources, and individual student learning plans.

Diny Golder of JES & Co. Speaks at the 5th Seminar, EdReNe (Educational Repositories Network)

Diny Golder of JES & Co. spoke at the EdReNe international seminar in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 6th and 7th about the connection between the learning object and the learning line, the curriculum. Ms. Golder was invited to speak due to her worldwide recognition as a leader and expert on interoperability and repositories and for her role in developing the Achievement Standards Network (ASN). The ASN is a framework for describing curriculum standards developed by governments and other organizations to prescribe what students should know and be able to do as a result of specific educational experiences. The Achievement Standards Network joins the National Education Association sponsored digital library, Gateway to 21st Century Skills, as part of the Global Learning Resource Connection (GLRC). The GLRC connects the dots between learning resources across borders and learning sectors.

IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS) Becomes a GLRC Partner

JES & Co. a world leader in research, development, and deployment of education programs based on open standards, announced today that the IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS) has become a worldwide partner of the Global Learning Resource Connection (GLRC). The GLRC will result in teachers and learners being able to seamlessly navigate related learning resources across national boundaries thus enriching the curricula in each nation while simultaneously providing the means for relating learning outcomes to educational resources such as student ePortfolios, professional development resources, and individual student learning plans.

Jon Phipps to Speak at DC-2010 International Conference

Jon Phipps of JES & Co. will be participating in multiple roles at the Dublin Core-2010 International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications October 20-22, 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. What people are saying about the GLRC

“The Gateway will provide an excellent framework for assessing the value of the GLRC effort through its automated means of data collection and teacher access.”

- John Wilson, Executive Director, National Education Association (NEA)

In support of the Global Learning Resource Connection: “The K-12 education community is continuing to grow their use of digital resources. However, ensuring that our selected, quality materials are searchable and relevant is of critical importance. High quality metadata ensures that our education community is linked to great content and that content is aligned to ever evolving standards.”

- Lee Sartain, Education Policy Specialist, The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, North Carolina State University

“NCVPS has served over 65,000 student enrollments over its brief history, and has over 400 teachers working with those students. The partnership with the Global Learning Resource Connection (GLRC) will allow these teachers and students access to an increased expanse of relevant educational content in an efficient and seamless manner.”

– Chanin Rivenbark, Chief Technology Officer, North Carolina Virtual Public School

“The Achievement Standards Network (ASN) provides a model for profiling curriculum statements and linking those statements to education resources using various RDF vocabularies. By profiling curriculum statements to learning resources, more precise matching is achieved”.

– Les Kneebone – Project Manager, Education Services Australia Ltd.
