Environmental Performance Research Students will explore worldwide air and water quality as they affect the ecosystem. They will examine EPI performance grades, basis for individual country rankings, and policy goals set by national governments to improve healthy ecosystems. Essential questions will include: What are the primary contributors to air and water pollution? What country-specific circumstances affect ratings i.e. climate, wealth? Are there unique challenges? What policies have been established by national governments? What progress is being made? 8

Introduction to Cyberbullying The lesson is designed to teach students to recognize cyberbulling in all its forms (email, chat, text and website); to respond to cyberbullies; to prevent being the victim of a cyberbully; and when to inform an adult of cyberbullying. 3

Closing Lesson for the Gothic Genre The gothic introductory lesson is the pre-curser to a unit on gothic literature. At the close of the lesson the students will be asked to complete a culminating project on the genre in conjunction with the school librarian. The students must create a display within the library that outlines gothic literature and features selections of gothic literature within the display. Students will also be required to write a short essay, answer the following essential question: How does the “gothic” or popular culture compare with the “gothic” of American Literature? 11
